How does it work?

AGA Accountants can handle process to ensure a smooth transition.

Switching accountants is a simple process and involves us contacting your old accountant to request professional clearance and requesting the necessary information. The main steps are as follows:

  1. Inform your old Accountant about your intention to terminate services and move to your new accountant. This should be done in writing , and at the same time letting them know that your new accountant will be contacting them.
  2. AGA Accountants will send an engagement letter to you as is required by professional accounting bodies. We will also request your ID documents as is legally required/
  3. We will also request your permission to act as your agent for tax purposes so we can liaise with HMRC directly on your behalf. This can be done by us electronically or in writing.
  4. With your permission, AGA Accountants will contact your old accountant and  request details of your recent personal and business accounts, tax returns and payroll as appropriate. 
  5. If applicable we will request bookkeeping data to ensure a smooth transition and handover.
  6. AGA Accountants will ensure follow with your previous accountant should any further information be required.
  7. You can help us by forwarding any information you have to hand already.
